Safer Internet Day (SID) at Drosia K.A’ Primary School

Following the project’s sceptic, our school decided to celebrate the Safer Internet Day on the 10th of February 2015, which is the day that is celebrated world wide. For that reason, we planned several activities in order to inform our students and make them aware on how to surf the web safely. Firstly, we created an information board, placed at the entrance of the school so that parents and students could have access to it. We displayed posters and other information about safe internet, rules and advice suitable for the students’ age.

Furthermore, the mother of one of our students, who is also a computers’ teacher, offered small scale seminars to our 3rd grade students, on how to keep themselves safe on the web and gave them some practical advice.

Finally, most of the classes from 1st grade to 3rd grade, had lessons taught in the classroom about the digital trail that we all leave behind us when we surf the web. The conclusion was that the bigger the trail we leave, the easiest is for someone to find us, especially if we post personal information or photos. Overall, it was a very educational but also fun day that the students enjoyed.
